it is the side that never gets the sun
it has kept a secret that it must hold
a secret it will share with none

it is in life that we marvel at death
whispering about it in sleeping ears
it will come to pass when we are laid to rest
the arrival of the sum of many fears

i'm anticipating when the first frost will show
i am expecting all of the rains
i am not ready for the weight of the snow
for it will cause my roof to cave again

i see that the leaves have begun to turn
and it seems that fall is all around
too early in the season to make a fire burn
even though i long for the smell and sound

i will stay for a time at this southern window
staring at the edge where shadows once fell
waiting for the secret, as i hear the wind blow
but the secret never comes, as this house will never tell... i love poems where the writer takes you into
their world, this poem has such exquisite
images, it really kept me intrigued all the way through,
wanting to know if the secret would be discovered, but
alas, the stubborn house did not tell...

hugs n' love nessa

I agree with Ladyfawn on this.
Places hold all kinds of spirits I've learned,
This is very creative and has good soul.
I really enjoyed reading it!

Peace!
