When I lie in my bed and I can’t see the light.
I think of the one, when I looked in her eyes
My knees turned to jelly and I got butterflies
But butterflies flutter and they all flew away
And left me with nothing but meaningless days.

I think of her smile and the way that she would sing
And the glimmer of heaven her kisses would bring.
How she bowed her head and was too shy to speak
And every second I lay with her felt like a week.
How she fiddled her fingers and played with her hair,
She told me she loved me when no one else cared.

As fate would have it, and fate is so cruel
Her parents moved house and she found a new school.
I never thought I’d get more lost, than I was in her gaze
But now I’m in darkness no light can erase
But what is love, if not destined for pain?
I hope you still think of me too, Mary-Jane.

Your words carry the lament of a lost love. Your imagery propels the reader to your sad world, and lays your heart at their feet. Very strong, emotional write, P

"And the glimmer of heaven her kisses would bring." A gorgeous line.

You are young. You know your heart. You feel deeply. You write about it. You are me, thirty-five years ago.

I pray that you hold onto yourself and don't let the spark that allowed you to write this wonderful poem go out.
