Array ( [sid] => 177884 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => A Bee Sting.... [time] => 2014-03-04 13:00:05 [hometext] => This experience was extremely hard to pen emotions and feelings rush through you like a raging bull. So it's not easy putting into context. I hate getting stung. [bodytext] => 10:02:2014....

Suddenly it happens.
Poison flowing like lethal atoms.
In your mind you know.
This can and will kill you if you let go.
To panic will increase the blood flow.
Yet brings adrenaline.
Stimulating the nerve system.
That keeps the heart pumping.
You feel your temples they're thumping.
This has happened before.
You see him the grim reaper knocking at your door.
You know the signs.
There is a cold chill in your spine.
First that infernal burn.
In you there is much concern.
Then it starts.
You try hard not to fall apart.
The race against time.
Will this take you in your prime?

In the next sixty seconds.
A cold sweat and tingle breaks out.
Then the shaking and hot fever.
Everything blurs yellow vision.
Then the numbness.
Your body goes limp
At this point if you haven't got treatment.
It could be too late.
You lose consciousness.
Just like getting anesthetic.

Eventually you come round.
Your feet not yet planted on the ground.
Your entire body consumed with pain.
You think I don't want to do that again.
The power of the venom from a tiny bee.
Can bring anyone to their knees.

I sent this to my sister. She will go into anaphylactic (sp?) shock with a bee sting. I was told the same thing applies to myself, but I've been stung numerous times....great pain, swelling, sweating etc. You did an excellent job of conveying the fear. But you know what? When I've had to face imminent death (not just from bee stings, but other events) I have found an eerie calm descend on me....an almost Zen like state that I am about to find out (finally!) the great unknown. Please keep writing. I am not a fan of being critical, but I hope you can take my advice with a grain of salt. Your style is very choppy. It may be by design, and if so, then forgive my noting it. I think of poetry as a musical rendering void of instruments.....a flow and a hum to be heard only by the reader, but...that's just me. I DO LIKE your poem and hope to read more of your pleasure.
