The world didn't notice because it forgot him long ago. He was dead before he died. Sadness so profound, regret so deep, that his body shed tears from the grave. You lead us along to his demise, but at a pace where we can prepare ourselves..a little.
I love the last line "..that his body shed tears from the grave." It doesn't get much sadder than that!
