My addictions still disrupt
And I remain insane
As these parasites feed off of my infection
I am unaware that I am building a wall of deception
Constantly shifting
Constantly creating
A new atmosphere
To try and pretend there is nothing to fear
But deep inside
Where it hides
I can feel it
It begins to rise
But I just smile and pretend
......
Nothing has changed
My wounds are still raw
Letting the illness sneak into my brain
Spreading this deadly plague
If I concentrate hard enough
I can feel her claws
Climb up my bodies inner walls
Trying to break out
So now,come with me
And I will show you that I see this world
As a fist full of blood
Smile and Pretend,smile and pretend
Surrender is your only hope
Smile and forget. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 208 [topic] => 13 [informant] => SevasTra [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )

drearily, hard to look deep into or penetrate, no pretend smile real enough in the eyes. I really think this is elegant. Is fear in the body or in the mind, as if the two are detached?
This is very well done.

Thank you!

Peace!

An moody and unpretentious post - the dark impulses sit within us, homunculus-like, and its a battle to keep them from writhing to the surface. I'm going back for another read...

Fantastic poem.
Love the title.
We all smile and pretend every single day that everything is alright..
Thanks for sharing this piece.
Keep on writing.

Best wishes
