A leader’s crocodile tears and hypocritical views.
For freedom they fought, for freedom they died,
I and this nation shall remember with pride.

Look at the scene all splattered with blood,
Severed limbs, shattered bones, half buried in mud.
The air filled with screams such unspeakable pain,
The moans of the dying, this shall happen again.

Fighting for freedom, a deceitful black lie,
It’s all about money and the oil which we buy.
It’s about self-interest and looking after the rich,
Do they care if our soldiers end up dead in a ditch?

What of mothers and fathers who forever must mourn?
For as long as they live, their hearts broken and torn.
The glib callous leader says, I can’t accept blame,
When soldiers are killed that’s all part of the game.

How many glorious leaders are on the front line?
That’s something reserved for your kids and mine.
Not one politician will ever stand in harm’s way,
In their safe comfy armchair giving orders each day.

As a former sodier and war veteran I must say there is not much to disagree with here. I try to stay out of argruments like these but these days even after the war is over the vet comes home to a poor job and lost dreams. Your write is very good on this sometimes contreversial subject.

I agree with everything you have said and respect the heart with which you say it. I just hope that the peace makers voices will one day be heard above the baying of the hounds of War.Keep writing as I for one want your voice to be heard.
