[hometext] => Watching raindrops pour
[bodytext] => sometime between spring and summer i remember days when there was a real endless heat. There was something cruel about it. My whole skin would stick to my clothes, and you had to peel off sweat on sweat. It was strange, and heat like that makes people crazy. There was No wind or water that could quench anyone I rememver there was a glow at noon,and all the animals stirred at night, and slept in the day. Flowers filled out the dry earth, and wilted . Bark from trees could be ripped out with fingers. And it was relentless, fires grew hotter, cigarettes smoked longer, and everyone hardly ate. No shade, no relief just burning, dense air. No one had any work , money and rest. We lived out those days, waiting for rain, and it just wouldn't come. I heard about some chaos overseas, we were at war at the time, bombing some people or other, for whatever reason, and the news reader read out the death toll, and the rain fell down , straighter then i had ever seen. It was glorious, like a temple or a tomb , as glorious and as an art gallery or Ezra pound And people retreated in from the streets and children danced in puddles and sheltered in hedgerows the flowers came back , found strength,and the flesh of trees grew thick, grass grew tall again. That's when i realised there must be something in nature that bends, some element that was thirsty for more than rain, that it is death in the engine of life and the beating fury of the world, God gave life.
