to these silent shores
to sit in solitude and find solace in
the final blaze of a wild summers sun,
it's faltering beams pour out ceaselessly
and splatter deftly upon the travelling waves.
Oh still, still it melts into the smouldering sky
though the last wailing squawks of toneless sea-gulls
will soon usher it to complete it's fall over the horizon.
Leaving you to contemplate twilights confused partition.

At last the night arrives
renewing the winds purpose,
now coalescing with the waves
to lash those bouldered wrecks
time has quietly been eroding.
This morning the wind had relaxed it's
offence, merely enticing tranquil waves
to gush over and tease the jagged wreck
but tonight it's force has been summoned
to howl with the sea and
thrash these cliffs
to boulders and
grain.

You tear your streaming eyes from this scene
You know only too well how time plays
out this process impassively.
Time relentlessly harrying us,
day by day, grain by grain.
Till aroused within the dampened guts of this earth
the worms cease their wriggling seizures, and it's you
whom they lie poised for, you whose supplying their feast.
