in the corner of my sleepy eye,
shadows creep and slip on by.
seconds tick as minutes die,
angels fall as demons fly.

in the hook of my crooked grin,
wishes taste of rust and skin.
truth despairs and lies defend,
savoring the rotten sin.

in the fog of my clouded thoughts,
reason runs but can't be caught.
half-price soul remains unbought.
got what i should not have sought.

in the shimmer, the shine, the shards of my soul,
broken bits of bruises i stole.
trying to turn diamond back into coal...
trying to dream of waking up Whole.

Jigget, you got it. The hands-down best addiction poetry I've ever read. Not just this one, but so many others here. Damn good job. DAMN good job.

Invierno, i thank you. truly. your kind words mean more to me than i anticipated. I feel i am a good poet, and while many of my poems are 'dark'...it's because addiction hollows, batters, and propels a life of planned disaster. the fact that you've taken the time to read many (if not all) of my posted poems TRULY lifts my spirits.

This was an interesting write, and a good one.
