when i was a child
when i was one
i was christened
babtized

under the water
the priest put my head
the church was cold
while the scripture
was read

later that night
i couldnt breath
my mum put the kettle on
and filled my room with steam
my temperature rose
as she rocked me to and throw
till she called an ambulance
and to the hospital
we did go

my mother says
she cried
as the doctors informed her
i was near death
expect the worse
they said to her
while they experimented with new drugs
to keep me alive,
to help me survive
to strengthen my damaged lungs

a priest arrived
and said the last rights
as my drunken father
stood by his side,

they had to resuscitate once or twice
as my soul left my body
and went towards the light,
but i was sent back
as an angel to fight
and learn through my heartache
to teach wrong from right

my heart beats and i breath
doubt all you want
i know i am right [comments] => 3 [counter] => 177 [topic] => 11 [informant] => alicewhite [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => ChristianPoetry )

So you're just a walking angel.
I have no doubts at all 'cause I flat lined in the ambulance once.
Some people will never believe you and there's those that need to be taught.
It's all good from where I'm sitting.
Very powerful write.
Huggs, smiles, blessings,
emy
