Array ( [sid] => 175491 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => The River Dam [time] => 2013-03-20 21:44:00 [hometext] => An inner discovery I was so sure I was and became so shaky on later [bodytext] => I love you.
And you, and you too.

I love all of you,
Men and boys and males alike,
Dark and hidden brilliance you don't believe is there.

Few are bright and rare,
Most are dark, and so are they,
Because I can sense it, sense it,
Can always tell it with their thinly veiled smiles
And cheerful faces speaking for maturity and sound mind.

I think I can fix you,
Be your light at the end of the tunnel,
Coming soon and abrupt and making you think.

But sometimes I doubt and wonder and feel with an annoying,
Worrisome understanding:
I can't fix them, just like that.
I can't fix them, I can only be there
To sit and listen and hope to advise;
But the choice to be scarred instead of bleeding
Is up to them, all on their own.
Oh, if only they could make it.

I'm scarred, and claim I'm broken.
It's just a dam, I know it now.
It's closed and worn with damage and overuse,
Strong and steady and assuringly there
To hold back the tide, salt water to burn.

But then when the sea level gets too high and the rain comes down,
Overflowing and unrelenting,
The dam knows to let go and the bolts are released.

Flood waters drown whatever is beneath,
And depending on how deep,
That's where my sensibility will sleep;
Until I dream, dream again.

Happy ending, I wake up.
Nightmare in front of me, I see it now;
Scissors in my hand and a torn boot in front of me,
Screaming apathy right inside my mind.
Cry, cry,
Fears and tears.
I cry for a different reason,
For my fearful madness.

Dr. Jekyll and Mrs. Hyde;
Twins from either side.
It's not that I don't accept them,
It's only that I just know they're there and there's not much I can do about it
But to go with the flow.

My inside's a dam,
Great and strong and assuringly there,
Steady and worn with damages and wear.
They're my floodgates, it's a need to release.
I get it now,
I am not broken.

I am not a mirror, shattered and reflecting an unwanted side.
I am not anything else, nope.

I love you, and you too, all of you, lovely dreams.
I just want you to see;
Can you be like me?
If not, will you understand me?

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
