Array ( [sid] => 175477 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Park swing [time] => 2013-03-19 19:16:23 [hometext] => A poem dedicated to my grandfather, about one of my favorite memories of spending time with him when I was little. [bodytext] => When I was a child,
My granpa used to push me on a swing in a park.

I still feel the excitement, the adrenaline rushing through my blood,
Every time I saw the ground beneath me or the blue sky above.

The wind that I have felt on my skin and which went through my hair,
The smile that could just not have been taken away.

My eager moves, stretching my legs back and forth,
Trust me when I say that I gave it my all.

The spontaneous shriek of laughter combined with fear,
Whether I would ever make it down here.

And then his words:
“Now we can’t stop! And you will end up somewhere on this chimney’s top!”

There was a big chimney across the street
Which I was sure I could reach with my feet

I was scared I would fall in its hole
And all of this would just be beyond my control.

But in my mind not a second of doubt could rise
It was enough to look in his eyes.

In worse case scenario he would just dive in!
And save his granddaughter from any sad grin.

His patience and love cannot be explained
And they will live in my heart until it’s my end.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
