Someday we will part
I will mean you no grief or worry when I say this
I am just cursed with the nasty habit
Of trying too hard to see into the future
I see us as two animals together
In a trap called romance
Warmed by the sun of desire
Fed by the fruit of passion
Battered by the sands of time
The dirt of distrust
The stones of insecurity
Cleansed by the rains of a new day
All constantly carried by the winds of change

Suppose that trap rusts open?
Will we still venture onward together?
Or perhaps one of us breaks free while the other stays tangled?
What do you suppose would happen then?

See? I'm cursed I tell you
Too many unnecessary questions with too many undesired answers
Trying to save a sinking ship that has yet to even meet the water
I still am afraid to ask you and rightfully so
It's just that I have held and been held
I have also left and have been left
Thus is human nature I suppose
Thus is life in a true test
And time, if willing, will lead lost lovers back down that same path
Back to the same trap that held them in

All I will ask of you
Is that you never forget
Just as I will never forget you
Instead of seeing you as a single star
You will always be a thousand constellations filling the sky
Each a memory always burning as we braved the joys and sorrows
Together

Lover
Someday we will part
Be it now or when one is called to Eternal's pool
But for now we share each other
In this beautifully wicked thing

Your words are trapped in the past of time, yet the present and future have a strong hold on you. You draw onto past hurts, yet you are held strong with the now of love. How you take the reader on so many paths, yet there are all the one and same. You are a romantic, yet realistic. Wow, I like this. Great write. Thank you for sharing, P.
