Falling to pieces

Contributed by kihr on Tuesday, 5th February 2013 @ 12:43:17 AM in AEST
Topic: political

I feel that it is all crashing around
This, that was built on sacred ground
More and More I fear its the end
despite my families time, they did lend

The country is dying a slow and sad death
Politicians walk around, as if on meth
They talk, with nothing true to say
Secretly hoping and wishing for that day

This thing that I love with all my heart
Is dying, is falling, is crumbling apart
I yell and I scream to those who will listen
To try and defeat this demise by abolition

Slowly stripping away our freedoms and rights
Having us squabbling over pointless fights
Keeping us busy as they hack and they saw,
Away at the foundation, the one with no flaw.

I feel like I am lost in an ocean, drowning
The head of a great evil is crowning
Powerless to stop this, I do what I can
To try and stop this evil tin man

I object and I argue with all my might
to try and set this whole thing right.
At times I feel like I am losing the battle
The virtuous side hears its death rattle

This government has gone too far it seems
pushing, and pushing, and pushing extremes
Just when I think they can't get more bold
What I was so shocked at, is suddenly old

So I stand with my fellow Co-patriots
In doing so may end up expatriates
To do what is right, it may end in civil war
We cannot take this corruption no more

Amen... It seems so complex..
What you're saying, cause we as people are so simple minded.
I love and agree with what this passage is about.
Sadly people will only wake up when we have
a world wide nazi Germany on our hands.
Even then only if they are on the wrong side of the fence will they care.
and if we should overcome the afore mentioned state,
people will just fall to sleep till the next time:when it happens .
Great write.

Unfortunately, regardless of the government, corruption is inevitable. Those who seek power often want to abuse it, and keep it. Even with a system to keep people like that out, there are still those who could fake it, and sneak in. The people who will not abuse power unfortunately... often do not seek it. This is the problem with leadership. The best leaders often do not want the responsibility of leading. Regardless, I agree with your sentiment. With the patriot act and other laws that strip us of our rights, we are losing the battle for freedom every day. Revolution may be imminent. It would be nice if there were more that the common man could do to contribute to our freedom.

A patriotic masterpiece you have here my fellow poet! Tis the truth and it cannot be expressed in stronger terms. If only our founding fathers' and constitutional framers' influence allow us to alter such a fiasco! On the bright side, God knows what is to come,
Deidra
