The thorn is sitting on the bench, the rose upon her throne
We were in the scented garden, the thorn beside the rose
Tonight’s the night that I (the thorn) was going to propose

The moon was shining mightily, the stars were twinkling bright
We had all conspired quietly that tonight will be the night
The moon and stars together shone their magic on the rose
While hissing, hissing in my ear “Come on you fool, propose!”

What do I say? What can I say? This time may never come again
Why can’t I be cool like in the movies? This is such a pain!
I have to get this one thing right, to get it right this very day
Or else she will just laugh at me, get up and walk away

“My darling will you marry me?” “I want you for my wife?”
“I’ll be true to you forever?” “I give to you my life?”
This all sounds so corny, should I get down on one knee?
No, that is so old fashioned, she would laugh hysterically
I am going to propose now! I am going to propose!
“My rose there’s something I’ve to say to thee…”
“Yes…”
“You have a pretty nose!”
