Hiding from the dark and misery
Unable to take it on awake
Writing a new chapter in my history

Emerging in this new world
Filled with light and clarity
Have I passed this storm?
Have I rid myself of this disparity

This fight was exhausting
Depleting me of everything within
But it's a dawn of a new era
Step by step in this life I begin

Thoughts of the past still exist
Like a rough draft of my life
Enlightening me of my mistakes
Completed now, walking with a stride

No longer in this cocoon
Broken free of this prison
This journey was worth it
Because I earned this wisdom

a while ago, you commented on a poem of mine. you invited me to check out yours and tell you what i think. what i think is that i REALLY liked the rough draft part, for it was perfectly put. as poets, is there anything sweeter than putting it perfectly?
also, i'm sure if you read any more of my poetry, there will be an immediate recognizing of the pen's impetus.
