That I will mail this cold winter night
Hopefully the postman will deliver
It before Christmas Eve's light

I've always believed in your magic
Every year I would send my dreams
I'd always worry you'd get airsick
As you sailed through the moonbeams

As a child, there were no end to promises
All wishes were meant to be granted
Santa could zip all around the atlas
To bring what a child's heart demanded

As an adult, my perception changed
Dreams became harder to be believed
The world suddenly seemed rearranged
Wishes promised were often deceived

This seemed to be how it was doomed to stay
I thought all the magic of Christmas gone
At least until the most wonderful day
My children's wonder proved me wrong

Momma, are you going to put up the tree
Mommy, can I help set the star on top
Momma, look at the lights, look, look, see
Mommy, will Santa make our house a stop

Tears fill my eyes as I gaze at their faces
I feel their wonder, their joy, their belief
I know that you exist; don't need traces
I explain you'll stop, much to their relief

My Christmas wish, the point of this letter
Will you grant this please, for me
Teach man how to make this world better
Let only love and hope be man's decree

I wish for everyone, no matter the age
To know the wonder of a child's mind
May all the anger, hate, useless rage
Be forever erased from all of mankind

Merry Christmas and God bless everyone
May your day be filled with joy from the start
Remember as you open a gift from someone
Santa stopped, guided by love from a heart [comments] => 2 [counter] => 147 [topic] => 18 [informant] => dvtpdw [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Holiday Poetry )
