[bodytext] => I wandered far, I wandered wide, Straight on, across, athwart Day in, day out, morning and night Great sadness in my heart. I felt so faint, my feet were weak, From wandering overland, When by an ash-tree near a creek A wooden cross I found. Bloodstained thereon my Savior hung Head lowered, forward bent, His arms stretched out, so full of love But no flowers nor ornament. Beneath His feet I took my rest And there I found sweet peace, There I laid down what so oppressed, how good our Savior is! Above is my translation to my mother's original below.
