Seek at this time of year to write that which may scare

In the true spirit of Halloween. We seek monsters, we create creatures

And look for effects to chill and bring fear in the name of fun.

Well sometimes real life is more scary.

How do I know?

In the Uk there is a scheme set up by the government in the name of

Palliative Care, which in itself is the ideal setting for terror, when something

Is supposed to protect the innocent and bring them comfort and solace

and yet the scheme carries the guise of evil even in its name!

'The Death Pathway Scheme.' You would think the name of a horror film

Or something out of the Science Fiction archives.

Unfortunately in my job I get to have a front seat

So I can view the suffering this Scheme gives to those who are vulnerable

Those who’s life will eventually leave them but their time is not yet!

And yet under this cloak of humanity is a letter of permission from those

Who consider life expendable, granting those within the Caring Profession

The right to withdraw all help, withdraw the body’s sustenance, withdraw

Medicines that may comfort as the process of dying takes hold.

Permission!!

Permission for crimes against humanity!

Permission for barbaric practice!

Permission to turn away and not witness suffering!

Permission for confusion, for anger and for pain!

Signed in their blood!

Money saved in their gasp for life!

I may write and create from the darkest depths of my imagination

But I cannot create

Horror such as this.

You may not have created the horror but your conveyance of the anguish is excellent. Makes me want to cry now. That's all I've got except your power of the pen just blew me away!

Hi Anna,
Alas, it comes as no surprise to me that this
government (will not allow myself to even
endow them with a capital ''G'') could
demonstrate their indifference and cold
callousness by legislating such barbarism.
These are hard times, but the perpetrators
of this quagmire that we all find ourselves in,
are being financially supported by our sweat
and protected from prosecution by the very
governments who make it their policy that
the less financially endowed, and the weak
and infirm, will bear the brunt. The ordinary
man/woman in the streets of this country
has no spirit anymore and is almost totally
apathetic towards these criminally unfair
legislations. Are they not aware that we can
(and must) say NO! God help us.

Your anger is wholly understandable. I wish
you and all your other colleagues who share
your anger, make a fight of it.

Tommy

Sometimes it makes me wonder about the term government, especially when I read things like that.
Govern always implies carrying out ideas with some understanding, yet so often things are carried out with none.
Great write, very powerful.

Steve
