Are you still not seeing whats beyond those big trees
If you look a little closer we'll be seeing
that the trees themselves have it pretty rough
but they keep their arms reaching to the skies above
and giving shelter to the animals they love
from the chilly cold and enemies they fear
those animals have made a useful home

(Chorus 1) (2 Stanzas)

And we know
that they have no choice in what they do
they're scraped and burned for heat so you
can share in the beauty of love

And we try
by our little hands to mold our world
to something that is not scornful
to keep from really knowing the truth
that it takes hurt to love

Are we still not embracing the tears we cry
foaming at the mouth by our alibis
avoiding all the conflicts that have got us here
because we can not cry those tears
the tears of learning by our suffering
defining a love that is truly deepened
that we can look past all those who by their feelings
are showing us that they're truly weak

(Chorus 2) (2 Stanzas)

And we know
they have no choice in what they do
they're learning just like me and you
and maybe they just need to be taught

And we know
that we have hurt others ourselves
we hope we'll have their forgiveness
and grow to see our love renewed
sometimes it takes pain to love

(Bridge)

To shun all our pride
and lift those rebels from the ground
teaching them to live
teaching them to love
and not denying our heart

( Back to Chorus 2)

Profound and shining insight Archie.
Tears are the watering of the growing seed to become the fruitful plant.
Without hurt and tears nothing will grow.
Beautiful and inspiring poem./
Blessings
Elizabeth
