Wandering and wondering
My mind pokes me painfully
Would triumph heed my cries?
Pessimism looms ominously
Blazing and leaving all in my wake
Surely victory’s fragrance can’t be far
An odyssey of torture I have endured
“exercise in futility “doubt croons
Familiar feeling of despair kindles
I cower as belief shrieks
Shoulders hunched as I turned
Stunned at the sight of success outstretched arms

We all need a good dose of inspiration at times to counteract the down pull of all that life can throw at you.I work with people nearing the end of their lives and people coping with disability and the strength of endurance, strength of character and the evidence of never having given up even though the odds were against them is awe inspiring. So your message of never giving up through this wonderfully strong well written piece of poetry is just what is needed. |
