of a battle purely in my head.
It was of war,
there were so many dead

Sometimes images bother me,
when coming to me in my sleep.
I yearn to rid of them,
these visions I do not wish to keep.

Nobody knows,
i never tell a sole.
These dreams I store within,
are as dark as coal.

I was once in a battle,
it really was not so bad.
I don’t allow it to bother me
but have lost the innocent mind I had.

Having been a soldier,
hiding certain things in my mind.
Just by writing this poem,
i allow those hidden visions to slowly unwind.

Just maybe,
when I find peace in all I have done.
My sleepless nights will fade,
those bad dreams will not have won.

This poem I write,
not of glory, but rather inner gloom.
When I wake up from dreaming,
i’m always in my room.

The chore of serving,
for others not knowing what we do.
Many things I have seen,
some soldiers find it hard to share with you.

My dreams are vivid,
reminding me of a past, not so far away.
Many images stay in my head,
but I pray to God they eventually fade away.

a heartfelt story; It strikes a chord
Few people can really know about
the experiences in a war except those
who were there.
I too had many dreams of the things I saw
in Viet Nam, As time stretches out in your life
they will come less and less.

i have never been to war . and i hope i wont see one . its hard to forget things like that but dreams can be controlled and mastered .once u learn to do that things start too get stranger and stranger and into the rabit hole we go :-). but i hope u recover from ur past hardships and learn to grow with it as a person and in spirit . all the world is a stage and we are all just actors. everyone has to play their part.
