[bodytext] => Her eyes. All I can remember are her eyes. That day, At the funeral, I can recall how morbid everything was, How down everyone's moods were. Mourning the loss of our fallen And regretting so many things about him, Thinking about the things we should have done And the things we could have said. Out of everyone though, She was the only one who was not crying, Who had yet to shed a tear. I remember, About how someone said that our fallen Was her relative, Her father, I believe. Her eyes were dry, No trace of moisture to be found. Her mother, Who had long ago Separated from him, Had been angry at her For not having a reaction. When she had demanded Why her daughter would not even cry, Show one bit of sympathy, Or even go up before And say a few words dedicated to him, The girl had only replied, "It's because none of these people deserve to hear what I have to say." Angry, Her mother had replied With a sound slap To her cheek. I remember How the girl's head whipped to the side, Her hand coming up To press gentle fingertips to her cheek. When her face had turned, I could only remember Nothing more Than her eyes. The girl with the empty eyes.
