He compliments me a lot to my face, which is where most of this is coming from. [bodytext] => She was beautiful.
But she wasn't his.

Everything about her in his mind was perfect.
The way she smiles so widely when amused or making a joke,
That smile that could also frown so lovingly in concern when there was someone in need
(He especially liked it when she was showing this expression towards him.)

Those large, round eyes that shone so brightly in animation,
The same way they could dull with wisdom when faced with a situation calling for knowing
(It was astounding to him how so young a girl could look so old and beaten.)

Her skin,
That was so pale a white it resembled alabaster,
Though there were small cuts all over her hands, making them seem like cracked porcelain
(They were so small and petite, like a child's, so much so he was almost scared he would break them.)

He wanted to hold her.
Oh, how he wanted to!

But she avoided him,
Tiringly so.
It annoyed him so much, how she would flitter oh so close, then fly just out of his reach.

He knew she didn't mean to lead him on,
That she was too kind of a soul to do that on purpose.
It was obvious she didn't like him that way
(But he couldn't help but chase after her.)

An evasive butterfly.
So beautiful,
So delicate,
So fleeting.

And for his poor, hopeful heart,
He would still keep chasing her.
After all, she had no eyes for another man
(It was impossible to catch her evasive butterfly's heart.)

He could dream, you know? [comments] => 1 [counter] => 251 [topic] => 25 [informant] => Ensis718 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => MiscPoems )
