Array ( [sid] => 173036 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => So Young [time] => 2012-06-16 06:30:35 [hometext] => This is for my nephew, Benji, who just found out that he has cancer. [bodytext] => He was not expecting
The news that he just heard
He tried to think back
And remember each word.

Was there any hope
Did the doctor say
They would try and fight it
In every possible way.

He could not think straight
He had to clear his head
He would have to tell his family
And that is what he dread.

How would they take it
Should he just lie
Did he really have to tell them
That he was going to die?

Cancer was what the doctor said
That was taking his life
How could he tell his kids
And especially his wife.

Things like this is not suppose to happen
To someone as young as he
He thought he would live for quite a while
And not die at thirty three.

When the doctor mentioned cancer
And that it was wide spread
He could not remember after that
What all the doctor said.

His mind was racing
On where he needed to start
He found the answer
Once he stopped and listened to his heart.

He got down on his knees
And prayed to the man above
To give him the strength and words
To tell those that he loved.

We are not suppose to question these things
Even though we do wonder why
God put us on this earth
And only he knows when it will be our time to die.

There is a reason for everything that he does
But sometimes it is hard to see
But we must trust in our faith more
Because one day this could be you or me. [comments] => 4 [counter] => 245 [topic] => 39 [informant] => Action567 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Grief )

Wow this is a heavy duty subject. I think everyone dreads having to face this one day.. I hope I never do or anyone else for that matter.. I think It flows well and it says what you wanted it to with some strong feelings . .It was almost hard to read . Not because it was poorly written, but because the subject scares me.I think you did a good job though .

First of all, please let me say how sincerely sorry I am to hear this. Yes, things happen for a reason but it is still not easy and it's not going to be easy. But this is one subject where I only know too well that I can feel the pain.

You will all be in my thoughts and prayers tonight.

You drive it home with that last line! Powerful! Nicely done...especially in your time of anguish and pain.

Your poetry is awesome. We have a very similar, if not the same talent for writing. Sorry to hear about your nephew.
