Array ( [sid] => 172845 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => My Apology [time] => 2012-06-05 22:36:29 [hometext] => After my father passed I found it very difficult to get back to my writing. This poem is an apology letter to my writing explaining my absence. [bodytext] => I apologize for my absence
I wasn't far
But far enough
I didn't run
But more like glided
Glided to a place where the wind pushed back my tears
Every time I got close to you, you commanded all of me
I wasn’t emotionally ready
The vibrations beneath my feet were enough to knock both of us down

You know I’m an emotional creature
That's how we met
You fed off of my passion
We made a compelling duo
You were my outlet
You kept me in check, I liked that
But this time your comfort couldn't sooth me
Every time I got close you, I became nervous
Nervous you would bring out my dark side
a side I refuse the world to see

I miss you
my soul misses you
I am somewhat healed which is why I am able to talk to you today
The sutures are dry but the scar is still tender
You can't have all of me yet
I can only handle you in small doses
I don't want to give too much too soon
But when that day comes
You better brace yourself because I’m bringing my velvet tongue [comments] => 2 [counter] => 206 [topic] => 50 [informant] => blended76 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => ApologyPoetry )

To paraphrase the late great Stuart Adamson, You dont have to grow flowers in the desert, as long as you see the sun in winter time.

Liked the ending of your write, gave a wry smile.
