So many things in life to contemplate
What is real, what is fake
My mind reels with every second of
every breath of my destined fate
I’ve had my fill of all the men in this world
past, present and future it seems
Got no more time to waste on anymore meaningless
first dates
These men seem to turn out the same whether I meet
them on my own or set up on a blind date
Pigs masquerading as chivalrous gentlemen
Feeding me the fat instead of the meat
I’ll now wait to be discovered if in fact there is still
A chance that a ‘Mr. Right’ my ultimate soul mate truly
does exist
One can still hope right???
But I have got to do something about this philosophy of mine
Trust and believe in no man that comes
along
Seems I’m setting myself up for failure with this little ditty
always rambling on in my mind
My life’s not over yet I feel it has just begun
I hope that the positive energy in another I crave can somehow
smash through the negative I seem to exude even if it only happens in my mind

I think the feelings of frustration and your philosophy can really be applied to either gender, because I can completely understand (and relate).

And yes, one can still hope.

Nicely written poem for what seems to be a classic subject.

Thank you,

Tim

Very relatable write, poignant ,expressing the anguish and frustration of many of us no doubt. Writing from the heart and about the heart is often the most powerful because its open in its honesty enough to connect with others who know the reality.
