[hometext] => Titled 3 because it was 3 years ago and I had 3 cigarettes left when writing it. It's a story about a friendship not a lover.
[bodytext] => Standing tall in the backyard. Never moving, always there to provide shade for others. Stands quietly in solitude, in the nude. Until another grows beside it. Being sheltered by its leaves and branches. Giving chances. Branches intertwining. Sharing its resources. Giving everything. Unwinding and binding. Together through beautiful and malicious weather, growing into each other, caring like a brother. Beginning to lean on its neighbor. No longer in labor. Always doing favors. Fusing flavors. Hungering for more to taste. Taking it with haste. Trying to be sly. Thinking it was safe. But the deceitful night was shed to light…it betrayed. The tree…played. The neighbor afraid. But succeeded and took what it craved. Then lied… No alibi… Why? Threatened by an approaching storm Constantly warned Always used to be sheltered, by its neighbors warm embrace. Two lives interlaced. Trying to save face. A friendship formed. A friendship mourned and scorned. Abused in the night. In a backyard…home. A most sacred place wishing it wouldn’t have shown. One year torn apart by one night. Trying with all its might, to make it right. Struggling to end its plight. Branches forced towards the earth, to a place that gives birth. While it rested, the neighbor was tested, failing again and again, no longer able to depend, No longer a friend. When questioned for the truth, a fabrication told, the neighbor being bold. It could no longer hide Didn’t abide, didn’t stand beside. The tree couldn’t confide, and went to shed its leaves Because the other thieved. The next day it was cut down Quietly leaving without a sound Only fallen leaves, The tree couldn’t conceive or believe, That its neighbor could deceive, And steal Thinking the fellowship was real. It’s neighbor no longer there Except for chips embedded in the soil around Where the trees roots were stuck in the ground Fighting, wanting to let be Ruined from ever being free Making it hard for others to grow It will never know The pain bestowed Still trying to let go.
