I Remember

I Remember

I remember the first time you held me;
In your arms I felt I'd found my home.
I remember the last time I saw you;
When I learned the meaning of alone.

I remember the aroma of your soft skin;
More arousing to me than any perfume.
I remember perfume on my pillows;
Another stranger in a cheap hotel room.

I remember your very first "I love you";
Diamond words, a promise of forever.
I remember you walking to your car;
The only word I now recall was "never".

I remember being anxious to see you;
Going to bed at eight to rush the morning.
I remember you and miss you each day;
My life, my love, my soul's transforming.

your poem is so outstandingly beautiful, yet i find this one line,"Another stranger in a cheap hotel room." to take away from it's overall loveliness, i still love it though lol,

Thank you for your very nice words. I do appreciate them. The "cheap hotel room" line is a stark contrast between the two extremes of loving a woman and loving nothing. It's just and unfortunate and unattractive truth. Truths are often like that I've found. ;)

I'm glad you enjoyed it.
