A place that someone else’s imagination had made

With a different language and blind eyes that could see

Where my feathered wings had been taken away from me

I would say that’s where the pain comes from, the blades

But you’ve got the scars to prove its true

Whereas I just have freckles to show I only played

What am I, in comparison to you?

A girl who flirted with rebellion and stayed home

My halo was made out of curls and twigs

But in your eyes I see the reflection of gold

Tell me the truth, say what you see

I saw my face in the shallow pool and told myself

I would fly one day, to where I was supposed to be

Yours were taken, from where mine never grew

And one look tells us both I am going to travel south

Would you mind too much if I just walk with you?

I’ll crawl too if you have to, just to have your company

Even though I know you belong where I can’t reach

That I am only going down, traveling with you makes it look less steep

What say I, in contrast to you?

Please look at me, and just give me enough light to close my eyes

As haunted and scared as I am, its so tiring to sleep being me

My freckles pale next to your white skin, and I remember I lied

Falsified the truth for so long, to only realize what I feared

The world I wanted was in book on the top shelf

It wasn’t meant to fall open at my feet

Failures aren’t meant for the sky, but that doesn’t mean

That I couldn’t walk awhile beside you, for a moment

Or until you reach your destination, just please

Give me the chance to remember who I am

To feel the tranquility and truth

And still be headed in the right direction

As long as its with you… [comments] => 0 [counter] => 89 [topic] => 2 [informant] => Marrs [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => LovePoetry )

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
