From a person, now lost to us all.
I haven't seen this kid in years,
But still thinking of him brings me to tears.
Anyways he asked to talk to me,
Told me after all this time he was sorry,
He wanted me to say I forgive you,
But I don't think it something I could do.
I said I could forget what he did to me,
I was fine now and at least he was sorry,
But as for what happened to my friend,
It was not mine to forgive, and not something he could ever mend.
However, I felt some empathy 4 him still
'til he told me this call was not of his will
u see he was up for parole in a couple days,
And having the victim forgive u always pays,
So this is what I get after all these years?
A fake apology, and his unreal tears?
So I told him I would testify,
About how brutaly he made Chris die

An unexpected telephone call,
From a person, now lost to us all.

Wow. This must have been so hard for you to put into words. Nothing feels more like an insult than an insincere apology. Great writing.
