Array ( [sid] => 171941 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => A Friendship Fragile [time] => 2012-04-15 04:44:03 [hometext] => A very great friend of mine recently went through a rough break up and basically requested that we give her her space. Over a month later and she still isn't talking to me or other mutual friends. So I'm stuck just waiting... And waiting... [bodytext] => She said she needed space
From her friends
She said she needed time
Away
She said she wanted to grow
To be who she wanted to be, she needed to grow for her own future
She told us all we were great friends
She said, "I wish you well with your futures."
She requested that we respected her wishes
of no communication
She said goodbye
Or so it felt
Goodbye
Dearest friend, goodbye
Please say hello to me again
sometime
But goodbye
Goodbye for now, my sweet
I miss you so
My heart is bruised
And I just want you back
You are too much a part of my life
to just walk away
You're my favorite friend
Goodbye love, goodbye
This is killing me
Come back, soon, please
This can't be a forever-goodbye
It just can't... [comments] => 4 [counter] => 261 [topic] => 16 [informant] => The_Unknown [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => FriendshipPoetry )

I can relate to this one a lot. True, it is sad and it hurts us when someone "needs their space" but alas, we really should respect their wishes. I've had this happen to me hhhh...perhaps, three times over the years. In fact, they're all women (no offense to any woman, but that's how it is). One finally came back into my life. It took about four years though! The others, they just faded into the memories of time.

So sorry you have to go through this but at least it inspired a good poem. Nice writing and chin up.

Tim

ouch a scenario that I can also relate well to. Not one you can fight or change just a waiting game that may result in hurt and moving on.Great empathic writing that will bring healing in its recognition to many who read it.
