What truths I carry in my heart about
What others may deem as perfectly okay
I want to let my mind's opinions out

There's freedom perceived about speech
Everyone has rights to carry their belief
What good is it if ears are out of reach
Words to cleanse the soul, wanting relief

Talk for hours, same words over and over
Sounds taken for speech, blah, blah, blah
Talking daily to family, neighbor, friend
Finding words often stuck in your craw

Many different opinions, schemes, ideas
Your thoughts fight against the grain of mine
Some wear their ideals like bright badges
Rarely do these diverse feelings entwine

The soul and heart that encompass us
Knows not how to express their makeup
Minds put symbols into words it must
Mouths emit sounds to strike at full gallop

Mankind created the sounds to communicate
Forgetting the hope or damage words do
Destroy with one, others to compensate
Once spoken, hang in the air like glue

Danger exists in speaking without thought
Treat each word like it's made of gold
Words can offer solace often sought
Or create a world desolate, barren, cold

Words contain love that carries the future
Words contain hate that destroys it, too
Everyone tells a story, the world its author
Tell tales of grandeur, don't let words end you [comments] => 3 [counter] => 210 [topic] => 43 [informant] => dvtpdw [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => oops )

don't let words end you

Unfortunately, they often do.

Really liked this.

Thank you for a very good read.

words are bad. i don't like words. hmmm... maybe i shouldn't say that on a poetry website. hahaha seriously though.... words are the means to meaning and for those that will listen... yes... yes i am stealing a quote from someone else.

Love this...Words have a lot of power...we need to be aware of what we speak because words can fix and words can break which means think hard and long and then speak..
