(A Biblical based series)
Today I sat in my time machine,
For some time had passed me by.
I thought it time for some adventure,
So I buckled in to fly.
I was on one side of a river,
On the other were two brides.
They were married to a fighting man,
Engaged on the opposite side.
I heard the wives scream "Jacob."
“Let that person go!”
But Jacob could not hear them,
As a fierce wind began to blow.
Jacob wrestled with a man
Until the break of dawn.
He would not stop without a blessing,
For His Heavenly countenance shone.
That man withheld His blessing
Until the daylight came.
When he touched the hip of Jacob,
Jacob went down with pain.
But the Man renamed Jacob Israel,
Because he wrestled with God.
And overcame the obstacle,
With strength and some shed blood.
Jacob the son of Issac,
And his grandpa was Abraham.
Had seen the face of the living God
Who is the Great I Am.
Amazed at what I saw today,
But knew it was time to go.
Struggling with God for a blessing,
Is a very hard thing you know.
