oops

She took the old bonneville
Down a road narrow and straight
The headlights painted the trees yellow
Through fog nearly opaque
Life wasn't what she thought it would be
Certainly not as of late
Her foot pressed to the floor
She was flirting with fate
The old bastard grumbled
At his heart; a v8
But gettin away isnt easy
When you're strapped to so much weight
For her staying was never an option
The years filled her heart with hate
Traveling too fast now
With a mile of dead space to the brake
Racing towards a fork
A turn she refused to make
She committed to her end
With a severity that couldn't be fake
He steered like a boat
And she fell in his wake
In the morning they found her
His Tail lights glowing red in the lake
her act of defiance
remembered as a mistake
