The pilot filmed in Nineteen Sixty Nine
Never aired then on T.V.
Titled Those Were The Days,
But All In The Family finally.

It brought to light how modern man
More enlightened than ever before,
Still harbored many prejudices,
In our land from shore to shore.

And if you watched it long enough,
You could recognize someone you knew.
And though forty years have passed since then,
We still have much work to do.

Referring to liberals as meatheads.
And calling one race those spics.
Another was referred to as heebs,
Not to mention dark skinned and southern hicks.

He called all Japanese Tojo.
And the Germans were all called Krauts.
The Chinese were simply Commies,
As prejudice was all he’d spout.

At first criticized for his behavior.
But Norman Leer wanted it let out,
To bring to everyone’s attention,
Without picketing or angry shouts.

At times it would simply make us laugh,
But in other times it made us sad.
For there is no excuse for prejudice.
It’s caused by total ignorance,
When inbred it is so awfully bad.

Sadly, many prejudices are still around. Some of us even do it subconsciously. At least I think we do. Well written and to the point.
