I guess I became what
I was meant to be.
My daddy loved my momma
And treated her like his queen.
He showed me how to love
The woman who became my dream.
And taught me how to be
A good ole boy like me.

Outside my window standing tall
Was a live oak tree.
I would open my windows just
To listen to the breeze, in the leaves.
The honeysuckle and gardenias
Would perfume the air,
I was a storybook child
With my siblings there.

Some of my friends weren’t so blessed
But are good ole boys like me.
If the world opened windows
To let in some fresh cool breeze
Under Live Oak trees.
They would learn how to love
Their sweet soul mate,
Wouldn’t that be oh so great!

Then storybook children
Would abound.
And peace and love
Would only be found.
If husbands loved wives
The way they should
All the children alive
Would only see good.

It starts in the home
For a storybook child like me.
Just a good ole boy who loves
Life, friends and family!
