she holds on to her past.
Relives it again and again
Makes the circle last.

Driving people away
and she finds herself alone.
She won't take a step back
she just won't let anything go.

It's eating at her heart
her soul has turned to ash.
She always has a story
or some made up lie about her past.

She is holding on to her pain
got it held tight in both hands.
She will not let it go
but I fear she will not last.

I won't walk the road with her
not another step
because her ash and soot
are smothering all my breath.

Powerful write describing how sometimes
we hold onto what we are most familiar
with, even pain, to find anything worth
keeping. That is a sad human condition
we need to let go of to find purpose and
meaning to life itself. I hope you aren't
describing yourself Michelle because you
have a beautiful heart full of talent and
love to share. Blessings, Rob

I've been down that road before, a long time ago. Can only do so much for people.

Beautifully penned, my dear.

Beaitiful, powerful and poignant poem Michelle.
Ah "letting go is sweet!".
It is the desperate clinging to the past that makes it so wrong, and unwillingness to go forward. and grow.
Fond memories are fine, but not stubborn and selfish clinging to past things.
God is in the PRESENT" - PURE PRESEN
CE.
Present, Past and Future are one eternal moment
. .
Thanks for sharing this exquisite work.
Love and peace
Elizabeth
