though we try to capture its liberty with our lies
blinding our eyes with unbelief
making mental prisons
prisoners of our own decisions
bars made up of our own denial
soon to learn the lesson taught so often
that this only works for a little while
shutting our minds understanding of reality
losing all concept of how to wait patiently
ashamed to just admit
we are the fools
hiding from the mirror
afraid of what we'll see
so we put on someone else’s mask today only to
search for another identity
tomorrow
foolishly addicted to wealth
our motto remains I’m in it for self
controlled by greed and materialistic things
the one with the most toys wins
we lie to ourselves
skilfully deceive everyone else
this treason that begins
from within
that reasons with our sin against humanity
claiming that blood is the new color code for peace
covering our shame with political allies
hoping that our lies and fake smiles will deafen us to their cries
there’s no order in the court
when murder becomes just the jury are witness of mans mass destruction
there is only two positions
victimizer or victim
the system is corrupt
violence and hunger are among us
cant you hear the cry of the streets
we look with tear stained eyes to the sky
asking questions
but the answer remains within
freedom lies on our lips
the truth will set us
free
