[bodytext] => I got blood on my hands, it's getting to thick
I’m gonna use these pages to wipe it off with
the life of a medic when the world is sick
dull the pain, pass the anesthetic

I regret it, taking life for granted
the world from our view tends to be a bit slanted
we argue about politics, sports, and fashion
while the rest of the world is dying, try to understand it

So, send us off to war and then act like we're the ones who planned it,
You want your freedoms protected, here, send the one that’s standing
put guards at the gate then judge the ones who man it
I won't let haters in my mind, you're the one who's banished

I can't sleep, through all this fighting
mortars hitting the ground as I'm up writing
These words are meant to shock you like bolts of lightning
I've been through scary times, but this ignorance is frightening

My eyes swell up, tears are running down my cheeks
As I’m driving by kids begging for food to eat
you say the war's over, pull out now, beat feet
as long as these kids struggle we leave in defeat

You get home, thinking the worst is over
then your dreams haunt you with fallen soldiers
Guilt starts to weigh on you like a ton of boulders
You just feel like crying, but you let it smolder

Here use my shoulder, realize, we have each other
Veterans to lean on like a friend or brother
If you were helped, help in kind another
Time to heal soldier, get up, RECOVER

God bless you for that and God bless you for your talent with words. you brought tears to my eyes with this piece. i have not seen truer words spoken with such grace in such a long time. and i love how you talk about wiping the blood off on these pages. omg..so amazing. seriously.

A deeply moving poem. I respect peole from the arms services—be proud. A poem mostly with an aaaa rhyming scheme. I am intrigued by how you came up with so many rhymes and be able to writes good metaphors. Rhyming poems are limited in terms of metaphors it follows a flow, unlike in free verse, there is no rules, letting the writing write any metaphor he/she pleases. Great job!
