And gazing at your face our hearts were filled with love and joy
We never knew that you would change our lives in such a way
That we would rise each morning looking forward to each day
And every moment with you brings such changes oh so fast
We sometimes wish that time would stop to make these moments last
To gaze at you, your face so sweet, brings tears into our eyes
The amazing transformation in us comes as great surprise
To know that we’re your parents, oh how blessed that makes us feel
Yet there are times we look at you and can’t believe you’re real
And though you’ve come, words can’t explain to you our precious one
What it means to have you here and know that you’re our son
The day will come when you’ll grow up and leave us but ‘til then
We plan to cherish every day with you we get to spend
So listen as we sing to you the lullabies each night
And read to you the books from those who share in our delight
Of having you, sweet little one, so many love you too
And we are all so thankful that our lives are blessed by you!

Love from your Mom’s Godmother, Caroline T. Smith
