Enveloped me in its layers
But yet I never noticed
I never really cared

Why does it seems so long ago?
It's only been 2 years.
I feel out of reach now,
It always brings me to tears.

Parents don't understand.
I tell them I'm in pain.
They say that it will be alright,
But it always stays the same.

I'm running down a hallway,
There are places to stop and rest.
They say that they will help me, so I can be my best.
It isn't long before I realize the fakes they are.
They've only torn me down and made me worse, I never seem to get far.

Now I'm walking down a street,
it's dark and cold at night.
I want to embrace the utter grief,
but I also see a light.
I know that I have to keep my head up, and feel the warm breeze.
Because I need to be here for those who care for who I am.
They accept ME for ME. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 100 [topic] => 48 [informant] => Liveonemoreday [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

Very nice write. I can relate to this. I suffered from acne and it sucks. Constantly feeling like you have to hide your face and you know people are staring at it. It really really stinks. If you still suffer from it you should ask your doctor if you can go on Acutane. Its a powerful drug but itll get rid ofyour acne for life. My face is completely clear except for an occaisonal pimple hear and there.

I also went through a period of depression. My parents didn't understand. My dad would make comments like "you just can't think those irrational thoughts, and sometimes you just got to suck it up". It was pretty frustrating. Our parents just don't want to hear that their kid is unhappy.

I suggest you go see a counselor. that is what I did and it saved my life. It's a third party who will listen to everything you have to say and won't act like your parents.

Good luck with everythng!

I know it seems like parents dont understand--both of my daughters went through depression as teens. It isn't that I didn't get it,I just didn't know how to help them. They went to counseling though and it helped. I wish you the best of luck !
