Begging the world for the chance to live.
To be nurtured, and as in all of the best of
Fairytales there is love ,and health, and providence.

Smiles bringing in an age of fulfilment and destiny!

But even before the maternal ear resounds
With the pounding of a racing heart,
Cards have already been dealt!

Was there a prior agreement between you and life?

Did life agree to fill your diary with Society’s ideals?
With happy ever afters?
Did life take notes on your must have quotas?
Did life give promissory notes or any guarantees?
Did life promise you your walk would not be alone?
The gift of longevity,
A month, a week, a day, a second?

Look to the skies for those millions who have already
Gone.

Then take a look in Nature’s mirror, and absorb
The brutal and honest truth.
The glass won’t shatter!

You’re looking at life!

Thus far today I have read some really good poetry. Yours however takes the cake. Your description of life and your declaration that it is in all things past and present is an impactful statement. This is especially clear that you are addressing one in a present state of mind as if to alert them that life is passing them by unless he or she pays attention!

Just a marvelous job all the way.

BRAVO

Life -- so precious and worth shouting about from the hilltops -- such a magnificent celebration. Magnificent poem with beautiful words and impeccably presented. Bravo!

As you often do, there seems to be different levels or interpretations to this one. I first got this sense that life is predetermined for us. I remember a short story (can't remember when I read it or what it was called) and the soul (or spirit) of a child not yet born was able to choose his parents. He got to watch them and see how they interacted, as if he was to determine ahead of time where he would be and there was some sort of predetermination of who he would choose from.

Then, I also got a sense of someone whining about evertything and someone else telling them to stop that. To be thankful for what they had accomplished and not let opportuniites pass them by.

Hi Anna,
A beautifully worded piece of verse,
thought-provoking and philosophically
philosophic. (try saying that after a few
coffees!).
