Array ( [sid] => 169624 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Truth [time] => 2011-12-25 00:58:11 [hometext] => some rambling about religion, the quest for truth and other interesting stuff.. tell me if i should continue it or change something. [bodytext] =>
So you thought you heard the distant chiming of the bell,
but was the promise really true or had you been deceived?
How is it justified that all but one paths lead to hell,
and can you really make a difference on how your eternity is deemed?

Would you rather know the grim and honest truth,
or would you choose to live in a happy lie?
Is all you need something to calm and sooth,
but you cannot know what's real until the time you die..

Never let self-proclaimed holy men control your mind,
you might not even notice when you loose freedom of choice.
I say this for I've concern for the future of mankind,
one should always question "higher power", profane god's voice.

Somewhere another sungazer finds a new way to live,
and the wise men witness the birth of new heresy.
They say that god is good but in the end he does not forgive,
and so the mass has killed the real prophecy.

Your first four lines say so much. But the rest plays to my agnosticism/borderline atheism.
There may well be a higher being but I can't be forced by equal men to place absurdly foreign attributes to a god who hasn't proved he cares.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
