Written by Josh Alker

There is an age old story,
That is upsetting to hear.
The tale of one way love,
That happened not far from here.

There was a young man,
Kind hearted and caring.
Who played it safe,
And was never daring.

He met a girl,
And felt something from the start.
A wondrous new found feeling,
Coming from the heart.

They continued to talk,
And with each word grew more fond.
For they had a connection,
A special bond.

As their relationship developed,
His love for her grew.
And it became clear to him,
His love for her was pure and true,

In three words he let his beauty know,
“I love you” were the words spoken.
To his surprise she turned him down,
I am broken

Crushed by reality,
He had nothing left inside.
Lonely and hurt,
He ran to hide.

To this day they still speak,
But she is oblivious.
He still loves her,
He is lascivious.

She does not know that his feelings are still hidden,
And that they will never be let out.
All of her love,
He will always go without. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 114 [topic] => 32 [informant] => SappyFella7 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry )

Words greatly expressive of a hard and anguishing experience. Unrequited love is a long and rough road.
but it can lead to a another love, like mine that's lasted now for almost forty years. Take care and remember our worth is measured on our love for others not on how much we are loved. Your feelings are worth very much indeed.
Richard
