Array ( [sid] => 169498 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Depression's Darkness [time] => 2011-12-20 23:31:37 [hometext] => it was a bad time in my life, but what a great freaking poem [bodytext] => Depression's Darkness

The dark of night seeps through the window
as blood through the gauze on a festering wound.
The silence of depression fills my head and deafens my ears
My only wish…. That the stealth of death will come for me soon

As moisture settles on anything that doesn’t move
So it settles on my life, that hasn’t moved in years
As it settles on the unmoving grass, it’s called dew
As it settles on my unmoving face, it’s called tears

Where is this “Life” of which I’ve heard so many speak?
Where is the love that so many say they feel?
I’ve heard others talk of the warmth in their hearts
Reach into my chest, feel my heart cold as steel

In a corner I sit, in a shroud of silence I cry and shiver
I wait an unending eternity for the Grim Reaper to take me
Again and again I look at the clock on the wall, not ticking
If the end doesn’t come and I’m dreaming, don’t bother to wake me

In a world full of hate with hearts full of contempt
Don’t try to tell me that life is worth living
Thick dark muck oozes from the souls of mankind
It’s so hard to believe anyone ever cared about giving

Slowly and silently I settle into the ground
A little deeper into the earth with each passing year
Eventually I’ll be 6 feet under, where I feel I belong
Not a soul on the planet will remember I was even here
