The Rumour

Contributed by angelus8663 on Thursday, 15th December 2011 @ 03:48:24 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

My doubts are clear, my questions unanswered still,
Did you do what they say? Are you still?
He’s supposed to be, ‘just a friend’,
Are you lying to me? Right until the end.

I try to ignore what people say,
Rumours fly around me every day.
‘She sees him when you’re working’,
‘She texts him when you’re not looking’

Finally I confront her, demand to know the truth,
Give her all the evidence, like some amateur sleuth.
She denies anything’s happened; she says it’s all lies,
If I choose to believe the rumours, then we’ll say our goodbyes.

I back off from the argument; really I have no proof,
But she acts all distant and very aloof.
Now days have passed and she ignores all my calls,
She walks straight past me in our halls.

It turns out now, the rumours were false,
But the spark is gone, our relationship has no pulse.
She left me alone, and hating myself,
For believing the lies I should have put on the back shelf.

So the moral of this, and the warning for all,
Be sure of the rumour, before you make this call.
Trust in your lover; don’t believe all the lies,
If untrue, the rumour will make your relationship die.
