The clock of life ticks on, week by week
By week – steady but inexorably on. Seek
And hold on to your love, for at the top
Of the hour, it may be the time to stop,
Take stock, perhaps to part forever.
Half past yesterday by the timepiece of my heart
And you are with me. Dare I now start
To plan for tomorrow now that we, content
To stay together as was planned and meant,
Continue life’s journey so much in love.

I remember spring, the way you had your hair;
I held your hand and walked without a care
In the world, for you were mine, my love, at last.
Remember it has never been an easy past,
But here, summer, this is a season of destiny.
The alarm rings by this clock, a serenade
When at half past today I finally made
The leap of faith to change my empty life,
Bid you come to me and become my wife
And keep me safe and warm in happiness.

So it is tomorrow now, we both are here
And I can barely stop this salty tear
Of joy from tumbling down my happy face;
Falling in a torrent, an emotional race
To gather in a pool upon the paper as I write.
The signs are good and auger well, I
Think and this time I believe the why
And how will have been answered,
The ifs and buts thrown up and rendered;
Tempus fugit for us will be time well spent together.
