Where has all the beauty gone?
When people gambled all and won
The hand of maiden fair, not now
For they have lost the why and how
To truly find a love that’s pure.

Not long ago in bygone age
One sought the ear of friendly sage
To put you on a winning course
To find a love you could endorse
But these days this is fantasy.

Now it’s always cut and thrust
A matter just of bank or bust.
All romance now is tears and lies,
The glib hellos and fake goodbyes;
A plastic world of kiss and tell.

I wander down the road of pain
Wonder if I’ll see you again.
I doubt it since you chose to go
With him although I do not know
If this was really yours or his intent.

Again it’s over all too quick
And I am left so poor and sick
Please tell me love for it is due
How do I just get over you?
And put my life on track again.

I do not know but one thing more
Before I leave through open door
Is it good, with him, your life?
And will he take you as his wife?
I fear this book is firmly closed.

And so I sit here with this ring
That to you yesterday did bring
To have it cast aside without delay
So in my pocket it will surely stay.
I miss your love, despite the cost.

Mr. Al,

We gotta git ya lookin' fer beauty in everything ya see. There's beauty in loneliness heartbreak 'n' even betrayal. Just gotta look real deep. Great capture of a sadness we're gonna make happy!

I really enjoyed this, it spoke to me, especially the unanswered questions ive often asked myself. Your pain and feelings poured through this truly excellent poem

Let God be true and every man a liar!
Then Ask Him to help you find the beauty
again! It will be just around the corner!
Blessings,
Rob
