I look at the photograph once more
At the image that strikes me to the core
The happy smiling faces there
Carry not the slightest care
Would that they knew the truth.

Its Christmas time and all about
Young children dance and scream and shout
Yet I sit here upon the chair
And long for those who are not there
To share with me this joyous time.

What right have we to bark and fight?
With all this wonderment and light
And what is harder for you than
To answer kids who want their nan
Around them at this festive time?

It’s time to put a stop to this
And even if we cannot kiss
I have to see the grandkids now
If only you would now allow
My breaking heart screams out to you.

How long can this lie keep on going
The lies to those who end up knowing
Nothing of their nan so near
Who’s desolate and loves them dear
For they are victims of our making.

Now is the time to make the peace
For all concerned a just release.
Come take my love of you once more
And enter through my welcome door
For family to me means more than life.

Where Is Nan This Christmas?

such pain! there should never be a reason for the children to miss out on what is rightfully theirs to have and your joy to give, from the heart leaving a pervading sadness.
